I bring my academic expertise to bear on important questions of the day in a language that can be understood by the non-academic public. This aspect of my work extends into television. I am a co-host for the nationally syndicated PBS program, The History Detectives. Currently filming for the third season, this program attempts to use personal history as a way of discussing American history. Each episode consists of a contributor presenting a personal story or historical arrtifact that we investigate and authenticate. In the process of authentication we also explain the historical context or story surrounding the personal story or historical artifact. I am currently developing several film projects.
