
January 24, 2005 -The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Lecture in Social Justice is an annual event during Penn's celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. King; each year, it highlights scholars of African descent committed to the field of social justice. The 2005 event featured Angela Y. Davis (professor of the History of Consciousness, UC-Santa Cruz; human rights activist) and Mary Frances Berry (Geraldine R. Segal Professor of History, University of Pennsylvania; chairperson, U.S. Commision on Civil Rights) in conversation with Dr. Tukufu Zuberi (professor of Sociology, University of Pennsylvania).
