Tukufu Zuberi is Director of the Center for Africana Studies and Professor of Sociology at the University of Pennsylvania. Zuberi's research focuses on African and African Diaspora populations and methods of analyzing human difference, developed in his books, Thicker Than Blood:How Radical Statistics Lie (2001), and Swing Low Sweet Chariot: The Mortality Cost of Colonizing Liberia in the Nineteenth Century (1995).
He has written more than 40 scholarly articles, and co-edited four special volumes: including the special issues of the December 2000 Black Scholar and March 2000 Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science and a volume of Race and Society on Racial Statistics. He directs two research projects: the African Census Analysis Project and the Interracial Contact and Social Stratification Project. Zuberi is also co-host for nationally syndicated PBS program History Detectives, scheduled to air Summer 2006.
